Box 222 Martinez, CA 94.553 Bear Ms. Mueller: This Side Letter memorializes agreement betweenthe parties for arine-time-onl.y lump sum, cast of living, payment to eligible permanent and temporary project employees in the Chi ld Development Program of the Community Services Department. It is understood and agreed by the parties that this one-time- only, lump 'sum coast of living payment in no way sets a precedent for the allocation of monies in future fiscal contract years between the Mate of California and the Contra Costa' County Community Services Department. Lump sum cost of living payments will be made to eligible employees in accordance with the following criteria. 1. Eligibility is based on employment earnings history in the Child Development Program from July 1, 1991, through June 25, 1992, and currently employed by the Community Services Department' as of November 30, 11992 (See Attachments "A,• and !#tiff 1 # A J 2. The amount of lump sum, cost of living payment for each employee will be calculated -by :first dividing an employee's July 1, 1991, through June '25, 1992, employment earnings' by the total Child Development Division payroll for the same time period to arrive at a percent. For purposes of illustration only, the following formula is shown: TOTAL EMPLOYEE GROSS PAY : TOTAL' C.D.D. PAYROLL , PERCENT 3 The percentage derived by the formula shown in paragraph two (2) above w ,11 then be multiplied' by ,$37,687.00, the total lump sum dollar figure available to the Community Services Department!. For purposes of illustration only the fallowing formula is shown: Percent ( x lump sum dollars = employees lump sum pay Affirmative Action 1 Eaua#©000rtunity Emplover 4 The payment amount computed will be issued as soon as passible by the County Auditor-Controller shown on an employee's regular Lath of the month pale cheek as a Lump Sum Payment, subject to normal tax withholding deduction require- ments Any employee believing there is an underpayment resulting from the payment methodology described above, may 'contact the Community Services ' Department's Personnel Officer to request a review of her/his Lump sum payment. Upon such a request, the Auditor's Office will investigate and issue any additional pay, if awed, as soon as possible.
