HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011993 - 1993-146 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS of (ANTRA cosrA couNTY CAL}EORNIA IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION No. 93/146 Honoring Mike Rozenski on His Induction into the Liberty Union High School District Athletic Hall of Fame WHEREAS,induction ceremonies into the 1993 Liberty Union High School Athletic Hall of Fame will be held on March 27,1993,to honor special members of the community who have made valuable contributions to the Liberty High School athletic program and Mike Rozenski has been selected to receive this prestigious honor; WHEREAS,Mike Rozenski's career at Liberty Union High School is phenomenal. During his sophomore season,he was All-Tourney at the Pinole Valley Spartan Holiday Classic,All-EBAL Second Team,and Liberty's most Valuable Player. ,As a Junior,he was AllTourney at th UC Nisbet Tournament and the Yuba City holiday invitational. He was All EBAL First Team, Liberty's Most Valuable Player and Captain Award recipient. Asa Senior,he was selected All-Tourney at the Yuba City Holiday Invitational and the Top of the Bay Classic,selectedCagtain by his teammates, was All-EBAL First Team,and Liberty's Most Valuable Player.Hewas also seiectedbyunanimous choice tothe All East BayTeam and selected'to the Sunkist All-American Team (Honorable Mention). He was slelected All-District 7(8 Western States by the High School Basketballyearbook and the All-State Basketball Team and played in the North-South game. He is the only Liberty player ever to be so recognized; WHEREAS,when Mike graduated from Liberty,he received approximately 85 college offers,choosing St.Mary's College in Moraga, WHEREAS,his college career was no less sensational than his high school career. As a Freshman,he was chosen All- Northern California First Team,All-'WCAC First Team,St.Mary's Most Valuable Player and selected Captain by his teammates. As a Sophomore,hewas All-North Cal Second Team,UPI All-rest Coast Team(Honorble Mention),WCAC Player of the Week, All-WCAC Honorable Mention,and St.Mary's Most Valuable Player. During his Junior season,he was chosen the Most Valuable Player at the Cal-Poly Aggie'Tourney,was an All-WCAC(Honorable Mention),and All-North-Cal Second Team choice again. During his Senior season,he was chosen All-Nor Cal Second Team and All-WCAC Second Team.. WHEREAS,in 1975,Mike was drafted by the 1975 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors in the 8th round. He was also drafted by the ABA Champion Kentucky Colonels in the 6th round. He was the only college player drafted by both professional champions in that year. In 1975,Mike made the Baltimore Claws roster,but the team was dropped by league four days before the opening game for lack of operating funds. In 1975,Mike was one of the last players cut by the Warriors after an excellent summer camp and pre-season games. WHEREAS,in 1977,Mike played pro ball for the San Miguel Corp.in the Philippines where he averaged 17 points and 14 rebounds. WHEREAS,he graduated from St.Mary's College with a BA Degree in US History and a minor in Physical Education; NOW,THEREFOR ,BE 1TRESOLVED,that the Boardof Supervisors hereby honors Mike Rozenski for his outstanding athletic career at Liberty Union High School,in college and in the pros. The Board respectfully acknowledges his induction into the LUHSD Athletic'Hall of Farre: PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 23rd day of March,1993.
