Resolution No. 93/ 109
WHEREAS, Bessie Poulos Dreibelbis., being born; and raised in
West Contra Costa County and having lived there all of her life;
and
WHEREAS, she started her law career ; as a legal secretary
working days for the Richmond law firm of Carlson, Collins, Gordon
and Bold; and
SEAS, she;, attended Golden Gate Law School at night where
she was the only woman in her class. She was admitted to the bar in
1962 °and began practicing law at the same Richmond firm; and
WHEREAS, in 1973, she was appointed Judge of the Municipal
Court by Governor' Ronald Reagan becoming the first woman in West
Contra Costa to hold a judgeship; and
WHEREAS, Judge Dreibelbis has received many honors from
community groups recognizing her achievements, one of which was
being named Golden Gate University Law: School Alumna of the Year;
and
WHEREAS,, she holds memberships in many prestigious '
professional associations and has served on many community and
professional committees; and
AREAS,: Judge Dreibelbis has served the citizens of West
Contra Costa through many service organization affiliations and by
serving on various community organizations' boards,
NOW, THKREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
of Centra Costa County commends Judge Bessie P. Dreibelbis for her
dedication and devotion to the citizens of West Contra Costa
County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County wishes to express its deep appreciation to Judge
Dreibelbis for her twenty gears of service on the bench and further
wishes her much happiness and good health throughout her retirement
years.
