In the Matter of Congratulating )

Lafayette Chamber of Commerce )
Business Person of the Year, 1993 )
WHEREAS Daniel Kelley has been named the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce's
Business Person of the Year; and
WHEREAS Daniel Kelley joined the Lafayette Park Hotel in October, 1987 and
immediately began compiling an impressive record of professional and volunteer
accomplishments in Lafayette; and
WHEREAS Daniel Kelley boosted the Lafayette Park Hotel's occupancy rate
enormously in spite of the economy and capitalized on the Duck Club Restaurant's cachet to
increase sales, patrons, and the variety of its impeccable cuisine; and
WHEREAS Daniel Kelley presided over the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for
eighteen months as its president, during which time he opened up many new profitable avenues
of communications between Chamber members, City government and the community, and also
found time to donate to the Chamber's yearly charity benefits, the Concours de Elegance; and
WHEREAS Daniel Kelley co-chaired the City of Lafayette's Downtown Master
Landscape Implementation Committee; and
WHEREAS Daniel Kelley served on the Board of Directors of Las Trampas School
where he put his earlier experience as a high school teacher to good use; and
WHEREAS Daniel Kelley received the 1989 Employer of the Year Award from the
Contra Costa Association of Retarded Citizens in recognition of his successful efforts to
mainstream retarded students of Las Trampas School into the hospitality industry.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Contra. Costa, California, hereby CONGRATULATES Daniel Kelley on his selection as the
Lafayette Chamber of Commerce's Business Person of the Year, COMMENDS Daniel Kelley
for his generous gifts of time and talent to Lafayette, its business community and civic life,
and EXTENDS TO Daniel Kelley its best wishes for further professional and civic success.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this second day of February, 1993, by unanimous vote of
the Board members present.
