YOSHIYETOGASARS on the ) RESOLUTION NO. 92/315 Occasion of Her 88th Birthday ) Dr. Yoshiye'Togasaki was: recently honored by the Japanese American Citizens League for her lifetime of community service and for her dedicati©n to the protection and promotion of civil` rights for every citizen of the United States of America. Dr. Togasaki's commitment to promoting civil rights for all people is an inspiration. Her efforts are vast and include fighting housing discrimination against Nisei women students at UC Berkeley during her college' years, volunteering` her medical, skills to conduct health education and 'screening programs for Native American groups, defending Los Angeles nurses against wrongful discharge, and testifying before the U.S. government' on Redress issues. As a public ;,health officer for the State of California, she found and reported on a situation of segregation of Black employees in Fluumas County,' and as a public health professional. in Contra Costa County from 1951-1972, she concentrated on minority health programs whenever possible. During ;this time, her special focus was to develop public" health services for the handicapped and for children. Dr. Togasaki has helped shape our present-day and future attitudes. For all she has accomplished and contributed to our county and our country, we thank and commend her. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors DR YOSHIYE TO+GASAKI on the occasion> of her 88th birthday.
