HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011992 - 1992-196 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the utter of Proclaiming] April, 1992 as Earthquake RESOLUTION.' NO. '92/196 Preparedness Month WHEREAS, the State of California continues to 'experience seismic activity, as evidenced by the October 17.. 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County is situated on five known earthquake faults and could experience a damaging earthquake at any time, and WHEREAS, earthquake related 1088 of life and property can be minimized if 'emergency preparedness measures are taken by county residents before the next damaging earthquake occurs; and WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Office of Emergency''Services;works with the Governor's Office of Emergency Services, cities, other governmental agencies, serviceorganizations, educational institutes, and businesses to provide earthquake safety information and training to residents throughout the county; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED, that the month of April, 1992, is hereby,proclaimed as Earthquake Preparedness Month, and all residents ;are urged to learn what to do before, daring, and after an 'earthquake to prevent injury, loss of life and property damage, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Contra Costa County will continue its earthquake awareness and emergency preparedness: training programs and will cooperate with public and private agencies in an effort to urge all citizens to take appropriate steps to prepare themselves and their families to cope with a damaging earthquake. PASSED and ADOPTED by the.. unanimous vote of the Board on the 7th day of April, 1992.
