The Month of May as:
"Toddler Imntuniza&n Month
FVMREAS recent California surveys indicate two out of three
califorWa children are not up-to-dxe with their immunizations by two years of age; and
WREWEAS the childhood diseases of polio, measles, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis,
mumps and rubella still pose a threat to unimmunized children, and complications of these
diseases are often devastating to both patients and their families; and
WHEREAS virtually all children attending schools and licensed day care centers in
Contra Costa County are protected by these immunizations because schools and avers enforce
the California School Immunkation Law; and
WhERE4S the basic series of immunizations against childhood diseases should be
completed before a child's second birthday, and
NMREAS the Contra Costa County Health Services Department, Public Health will
hold seventeen clinics where toddlers can be immunized during May; and
WNEREAS private physicians throughout the county also will be making special efforts
to encourage parents to bring their young children in Pr needed immunizations during May;
NOW, TBEREFORF,L.ETITBERESOLVED BY TW CONTNA COSTA COUN7Y
BOARD OF SUPERPYSORS, That the Members proctcd?n the month of May of each year
'Toddler Irnmunkation Month'and request the support of Contra Costa Count residents and
organizations in this effort to protect our children between age one and two years from
dangerous diseases.
