HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011992 - 1992-167 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF, CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring the ) WWT1=Z-PACHEC0 TETTER CARRIERS } RESOLUTION NO. 92/ 167 on the Occasion of Their list ) Annual. Food Drive ) on Larch 31, 1992, the Martinez-Pacheco Letter Carriers will be collecting food door-to-door during their 1st Annual Food Drive. The drive is in coordination with the Contra Costa Food Bank, and all food collected will be distributed directly to needy Contra Costa" citizens. The letter carriers have had an in-house food drivefor the past four years at their post office. However, when they foundout that the Food Bank's requests for ' assistance are up 40 percent and donations are; down 13 percent, the letter carriers decided is increase their efforts to fight hunger by collecting food door-to- door as they deliver the mail on their daily routes. The carriers have also committed to conduct the drive without any extra cost to the Postal Service or its customers. The Board of Supervisors commends the Martinez-Pacheco Letter Carriers and Postmaster Curtis Mass for their compassion and willingness to tackle this 'very' serious 'problem,:;and we extend our best wishes for much success in their efforts to help fight hunger in Contra Costa County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors the NAMI B2-PACO LETTER CARRIERS on the 'occasion of 'their lst Annual Food Drive: PASSED AND ADOPTED ON March 24, 1992, by a ' unanimous vote of the Board',members present.
