WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 88/75 effective
January 1, 1988 which established continuing policy for maintenance of pay
rates and other compensation for full-time employees in the volunteer fire
districts of East Diablo, Bethel Island, Byron, Oakley, Crockett and Tassajara;
and
WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors on February 28, 1989 adopted Resolution
89/108 which made effective a Memorandum of Understanding between the County
and Local 1230, International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) containing
provisions for a general increase effective January 1, 1991 based upon a
formula containing variables including the Bay Area Consumer Price Index and
prevailing pay in comparable fire departments; and
WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors on January 22, 1991 adopted Resolution
91/53 which implemented an equivalent general increase for fire management
classifications in County merit system Fire Districts effective January 1,
1991:
NOW THEREFORE, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in its
capacity as governing board of the County of Contra Costa and all districts of
which it is the ex-officio governing board RESOLVES THAT:
A. The following rates of pay for full-time employees of East Diablo and
Bethel Island volunteer fire districts are established effective
January 1, 1991.
1. East Diablo
Fire Chief C3-2442 ($5754 - 6344)
1st Assistant Chief C3-2285 ($4918 - 5423)
2nd Assistant Chief C3-2232 ($4665 - 5143)
2. Bethel Island
Fire Chief C5-2134 ($3836 - 4663)
Assistant Fire Chief C5-2088 ($3664 - 4453)
Battalion Chief C5-2010 ($3389- 4119)
B. Salary. Schedu_le:,XA-1667 is adopted effective January 1, 1991 as indicated

C. In accordance with the side letter agreement adopted May 10, 1989 between
the County and IAFF Local 1230 representing the full-time position of East
Diablo Fire Protection District Captain, the salary schedule/level for
this class shall be C1-2101 ($4512) effective January 1, 1991.
D. Effective February 1, 1991, Section 2 of Resolution No. 90/495 is amended
to establish a $10.00 per hour rate of pay for the Byron Fire District
Secretary replacing the existing $400.00 per month flat rate.
