IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
.In the Matter of Proclaiming )
February as AMERICAN HISTORY ) RESOLUTION NO. 91/ 73
MONTH in Contra Costa County )
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)
sponsors February as American History Month each year to
stimulate a knowledge in both young and old . and a sense of pride
in our Nation' s great achievements and dedication to liberty.
The backbone of this great nation of America. is its history upon
which all of our accomplishments are based. The DAR wants to
stress pride in the United States of America through community
services in educational programs, essay contests, and historic
tours. Through the study of American History, we are made aware
of the importance of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity.
American History Month is especially important this year due to
our involvement in the war in the Persian Gulf. We want to
extend our commendation to the DAR for making American citizens
aware of our heritage and the benefits of being an American. It
is the time for our nation to bond together and to celebrate the
liberty we are all fortunate enough .to enjoy everyday.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
proclaims February AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH in Contra Costa County.
