HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 12131988 - 88-749 7Z) IN THE HOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Commending > Pacific Bell for Assistance ) to County' s Emergency > RESOLUTION NO. 88/ 749 Preparedness Program ) WHEREAS disaster preparedness is a vital service provided by county government ; and WHEREAS , development of an effective disaster preparedness program requires the effort and cooperation of both public agencies and private business concerns ; and WHEREAS on October 28, 1988, the county and several cities participated in a simulated earthquake exercise for the purpose of testing communications systems and inter-agency coordination ; and WHEREAS Pacific Bell not only participated in the exercise, but also donated the use of its studio facilities and personnel to produce a simulated television news report which was an integral part of and provided a great amount of realism to the exercise; and WHEREAS Pacific Bell ' s contribution to the earthquake exercise represents that company ' s continual interest and cooperation in working with the county to develop an effective Alar, for minimizing the loss of life and property which would result from a major natural or man-made disaster . NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT Sv THIS BOARD RESOLVED, that it extends its sincere appreciation to Pacific Bell and particularly to Mr. Don Roman , Executive Producer , and Mr . Adam Szwarc , Editor, for their time and effort in producing the video tape simulated news report and for Pacific Bell ' s continued commitment to disaster preparedness . 1 hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
