Peggy Sargent to )
the Community )
WHEREAS, Peggy M. Sargent has announced her retirement as
the Executive Director of the East County Detox Center having served in
this capacity since 1974;
WHEREAS, Peggy served as Program Coordinator for Bi-Bett
Corporation in 1973;
WHEREAS, Peggy actively served as a member of the Board of
Directors of the Counselors on Alcoholism, Addiction, and Related
Dependencies in 1973-74;
WHEREAS, she served on the Board of Directors of the East Bay
Recovery Association in 1975-76;
WHEREAS, in 1978 she helped organize the California Women' s
Commission on Alcoholism for the Alameda-Contra Costa Region serving as
the first chairperson and first regional representative from this
region;
WHEREAS, Peggy has served in, various capacities since 1964 to .
the present in Alcoholics Anonymous;
WHEREAS, she has had experience both as staff and as a
volunteer in many other areas in the field of alcohol abuse and
alcoholism counseling;
WHEREAS, Peggy has unselfishly dedicated her service to
helping others combat alcoholism and is well-known in the community for
her efforts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, does hereby commend and express its
appreciation to Peggy M. Sargent for her dedicated service and valuable
contribution to the community in the area of alcoholism counseling and
prevention;
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this
eighth day of December, 1987.
