THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of: )
Commending Judge Gary E. Strankman )
as Superior Court Presiding Judge. ) RESOLUTION NO. 87/725
WHEREAS the Honorable Gary E. Strankman served as Presiding
Judge of the Contra - Costa County Superior Court for two
consecutive terms , from January 1 , 1986 through December 31,
1987 ; and
WHEREAS during this period, Judge Strankman provided
leadership to the entire justice system with a systemwide
perspective on problems and their solutions; and
WHEREAS he effectively managed the Superior Court during a
period of dramatic workload increases balancing the need to
provide for criminal and civil justice in a time of escalating
demands in both areas ; and
WHEREAS Judge Strankman recognized the need . and assigned
more Court resources to the area of child abuse, dependency and
neglect, and moved the Court forward in automation of the
criminal and civil areas and in the installation of an automated
legal rsearch system for the Court; and
WHEREAS in carrying out the duties of Presiding Judge of the
Superior Court, Judge Gary Strankman demonstrated the qualities
not only of an outstanding jurist, but also of an exceptional
administrator;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA
COSTA COUNTY RESOLVED that the Honorable Gary E. Strankman, is
COMMENDED for his leadership and service as Presiding Judge of
the Superior Court.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on
this 15th day of December, 1987.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of
Supervisors on the date aforesaid. /
