HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09301986 - 86-577 x.s THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of: ) Opposition to ) RESOLUTION NO. 86/ 577 Proposition 61. ) WHEREAS Propositon 61 will appear on the November, 1986 ballot; and WHEREAS the independent Legislative Analyst has reported that passage of Proposition 61 could cost California taxpayers $7 billion; and WHEREAS the arbitrary salary limits set by Proposition ' 61 would make it virtually impossible for California to compete in the international marketplace for technical and managerial skills; and WHEREAS Proposition 61 would prevent state and local governments from continuing to contract with private business where contracts exceed $75 per hour or two years in length which would severely limit local government' s ability to respond to emergencies like aerial firefighting, flood repair, and toxic clean-up; and WHEREAS Proposition 61 would unfairly prevent all public employees from accumulating sick leave and vacation time from one year to the next; and WHEREAS over 100 statewide organizations including the County Supervisors Association of California have joined together to oppose Proposition 61; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA joins with the largest coalition in California history in opposing Proposition 61 . PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 30th day of September, 1986.
