In the Matter of: )
Commending Richard C. Trudeau ) RESOLUTION NO. 86/73
on his Public Service. )
WHEREAS Richard C. Trudeau has retired from the position of
General Manager, East Bay Regional Park District, after
twenty-two years of public service with that agency; and
WHEREAS he joined the Agency in 1964 as Director of Public
Information; became Assistant General Manager three years later,
and in 1968 was promoted to General Manager; and
WHEREAS Mr. Trudeau grew up in Seattle, Washington, where he
attended the University of Washington, graduating in 1942 with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in American Government and Journalism;
and following U. S. Army service during World War II, he
attended the Maxwell Graduate School of Syracuse University in
New York, where he received a Master of Public Administration
degree in 1947; andl
WHEREAS during! Richard Trudeau's term as General Manager the
East Bay Regional Park District has grown from eight parks and
13 ,047 acres to 46 parks and 60,000 acres, and annual visitor
count has increased1from six million in 1968 to an estimated 14
million in 1984, the park district' s 50th Anniversary Year; and
WHEREAS he has received many professional honors, including
the Award of Excellence in 1983 from the National Society for
Park Resources and both the Gold Key and Silver Anvil awards from
the Public Relations Society of America; and
WHEREAS through his leadership and personal commitment, Mr.
Trudeau has been instrumental in contributing to the recreational
opportunities and wi ell-being of the citizens of our County;
NOW, THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY that Richard C. Trudeau is COMMENDED for
his exemplary public service and outstanding contribution to the
citizens of this County.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on
this 25th day of February, 1986.
