HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 02251986 - 86-70 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA i Adopted this Order on February 25, 198.6 , by the following vote: i AYES: Supervisors Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson, and Powers NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Fanden I ABSTAIN: None Resolution No. 86/70 SUBJECT: Support for Rural/Farmworker Housing WHEREAS, The Board of Supervisors adopted an amended Housing Element of the County General Plan on April 23, 1985 ; and, WHEREAS, Goal 1 (a) of the Housing Element states that decent, safe, and affordable housing should be available to all Contra Costa County iresidents; and WHEREAS, Goal 14(d) of the Housing Element states that it is the policy of thefCounty to provide resources to address special housing needsllby supporting non-profit groups and housing organizations to organize and implement programs which foster or implement self-help projects that create or maintain rural and urban housing opportunities; and, WHEREAS, Goal 14(e) of the Housing Element states that the County would establilsh an ad-hoc Task Force comprised of county, city, and non-profit agencies and private individuals to assess the needs of farmworkers as identified and propose alternative measures to address the needs; and, WHEREAS, an ad-hoc Rural/Farmworker Housing Task Force has been formed and been meeting for the past six months to address rural/farmworker housing needs in Contra Costa County; and, l WHEREAS, the Rural/Farmworker Housing Task Force is composed of representatives from the Rural California Housing Corporation, County Housing Authority, California Human Development Corporation, Comite Regional Campesino, County Department of Community Development, Pacific Community Services, Habitat for Humanity, United Council of Spanish- Speaking Organizations, and California Department of Housing and Community Development; and WHEREAS, there is a critical need in rural Contra Costa County to provide additional home ownership, rental, and seasonal housing opportunities as well as to rehabilitate existing housing units: . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT �RESOLVED, that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors reaffirms its policy contained in the Housing Element of the General Plan to support rural/ farmworker housing efforts in the county and to encourage County departments to assist and cooperate in this program. i-hereby certify that this is a true ani correct copy of .an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Superv!sors on the date shown.
