If the Board of Supervisors takes no action to increase the fees , the fees are automatically increased to $25 per day. The legislation provides for state reimbursement for the difference between the existing $5 fee and the new $10 minimum. However, no reimbursement is available for any fee set higher than $10 . This office will be scheduling the matter of increasing the jurors' fees from the existing $5 to the $10 minimum within the next month so that the increase can be effective January 1, 1985 . In order to meet this deadline, it is requested that the Superior Court and each of the Municipal Courts submit appropriation adjust- ments to the Auditor-Controller, attention Chuck Thompson , to cover the following: 1. Increase on the expenditure side to reflect the increase for jurors' fees. 2. Increase on the revenue side specifying state mandated reimbursement offsetting the increased expenditures . In a memo to this office outlining the impact of this legislation , Roy Chiesa advised that the County should not expect full reimbursement of the $5 increase since the amount appropriated in the bill is not nearly sufficient to cover all counties statewide. I will be working with representatives of CSAC to determine what type of recovery rate we can anticipate . However, at this time it is requested that each of the courts anticipate full recovery.
