Gregory Cash for His Act of ) RESOLUTION NO. 81/950
Heroism )
WHEREAS on May 27, 1981, Gregory Cash, 24, performed a heroic act
showing little regard for his own personal safety; and
WHEREAS Mr. Cash first tried unsuccessfully to enter a smake-
filled roam to rescue a three-amth old baby at 1569 Opal Court in the
North Richmond Area of Contra Costa County, and Y
WHEREAS Mr. Cash then obtained a painter's mask to minimize smoke
inhalation and enable him to again attempt to enter the burning building:
and
WHEREAS Mr. Cash climbed to the second story and entered through
a window of the burning structure to rescue three-nmnth old Robert E. Jones
who suffered from smoke inhalation, second and third degree burns; and
WHEREAS Mr. Cash suffered a dislocated shoulder for his efforts
and still tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose until fire-
fighters could reach the scene;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Hoard of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County does hereby C901END and PRAISE Gregory Cash for his
heroism and his persistence which resulted in the saving of a child's
life, and especially to afford him recognition for this unselfish act.
PASSED by the Board on August 25, 1981, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson, Pmmrs
