HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011981 - 1981-909 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Clean Water Grant Funding RESOLUTION NO. 81/909 WHEREAS Congress has eliminated Clean Water Grant Fund- ing for Fiscal Year 1982 , and the Reagan Administration wants a zero budget for 1982 to force changes in the Clean Water Grant Program; and WHEREAS this one-year freeze will affect over 400 projects in California, with the City of San Francisco among those hardest hit; and WHEREAS the County has invested substantial time and resources to improve the water quality of San Francisco Bay and Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta; and WHEREAS the delays in the Clean Water Grant Program will increase the ultimate cost of the program because of inflation and hinder efforts to remove pollutants from Contra Costa waters NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors support the continuation of the Clean Water Grant Program; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board urges Congress and the Administration to provide interim financing for Fiscal Year 1982 to those States that are ready to put funds to use, while efforts to improve the program continue in Washington, D. C. ; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board inform its Congressional Delegation of its support of the Clean Water Grant Program and support for interim financing.
