HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011981 - 1981-523 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the matter of Requesting Designation ) of I-680 and SR 24 as State Scenic Routes ) RESOLUTION NO, 81/523 WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors finds that: The County has reviewed the report "A Study of a Proposed Scenic Corridor Highway 680/24 in Contra Costa County" prepared by the State of California, Department of Transportation, District 4 and the County desires to apply to CALTRANS' District Director for designation of those routes as official State Scenic Highways. The routes are State Route 24 from the Alameda County line to its interchange with Interstate 680 in the City of Walnut Creek and for Interstate 680 southerly from that point to the Alameda County line. The Board has initiated and established the following measures for protecting the visual qualities within the scenic corridor in the unincorporated area as indicated in the State report. The placing of these routes into the State Scenic Route System is in conformance with the Contra Costa County Scenic Routes Element of the County General Plan adopted on September 17, 1974; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County: 1. Requests the designation as State Scenic Routes the aforementioned sections of Interstate 680 and State Route 24; 2. Submits the report 11I-680 and State Route 24 Protective Measures" to the District Director of CALTRANS. Said report includes the County's General Plan policies, relevant ordinances and development review process affecting the scenic corridor; and 3. Assures that any land within the county jurisdiction and within the Scenic Corridor be developed so as to not detract from the scenic qualities of the scenic routes, but in accordance with adopted land use planning policy. PASSED on May 12, 1981 by unanimous vote of the Board.
