Oakland Raider Head Coach } RESOLUTION NO. 81/127
Tom Flores. }
}
WHEREAS on January 25, 1981 the Oakland Raiders became the
World Champion Professional Football Team by defeating the
Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 27 to 10 in Super Bowl XV; and
WHEREAS Tom Flores, the head coach of the Oakland Raiders
and a Contra Costa County resident, has done an outstanding job in
developing the highest potential of the players and in providing
the leadership necessary to mold a winning team; and
WHEREAS the citizens of Contra Costa County, as well as the
entire East Bay area, are extremely proud of the Oakland Raiders
and of Coach Flores; and
WHEREAS Tom Flores began his association with the Oakland
Raiders in 1960 as the team's first quarterback and has since
served the Raider organization in several capacities prior to his
appointment as head coach in 1979; and
WHEREAS his gentlemanly behavior as Head Coach is an example
for all;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
of Contra Costa County hereby EXPRESSES its sincere appreciation to
Tom Flores for leading the Oakland Raiders to the 1981 Super Bowl
Championship and in the process setting an example in personal
behavior.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Board also expresses the
hope that Tom Flores and the Oakland Raiders will continue their
well established tradition of "Pride and Poise" on the playing field
and in their private lives.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board on January 27 , 1981.
I HERBY CERTIFY that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of
Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
