STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Application to LAFCO for Annexation) of County Service Area R-8 Owned ) Resolution No. 81/ 1169 Lands to the City of Walnut Creek ) WHEREAS, operation of County Service Area R-8 in provid- ing recreation and park service for residents of the community of Walnut Creek is a cooperative effort of the City of Walnut Creek and the County; and WHEREAS, land acquired by the County for County Service Area R-8 purposes is located partially within the jurisdiction of the City of Walnut Creek and partially in the unincorporated portion of the County; and WHEREAS, services of County Service Area; R-8 can be pro- vided more effectively and efficiently by annexing the subject mpuublic lands to the City of Walnut Creek, thereby unifying jurls- diction for recreation and park service as well as the collateral service of police protection; NOW, THEREFORE, THIS BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNT' RESOLVES THAT: Section 1. Application is hereby made to the Local Agency Formation Commission of Contra Costa County for a change of organi- zation, pursuant to the .Municipal Organization Act of 1977. Section 2. The nature of the proposed change of organi- zation is annexation of legally uninhabited territory to the City of Walnut Creek. The territory to be annexed consists of those lands owned by the County on behalf of County Service Area R-8 that are not within the present boundaries of the City. Section 3. Boundaries of affected territory are as set forth in the attached description marked Exhibit "A" and as shown in the attached map marked Exhibit ''B Section 4, The reason for the proposed annexation is to improve utilization of City and County resources in providing recreation and park service as well as the collateral service of police protection within the lands of County Service Area R-8. Section 5.. It is hereby requested that the Local Agency Formation Commission of Contra Costa. County initiate proceedings for the subject annexation proposal.
