HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011981 - 1981-1101 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of United Way of the Bay Area ) 1981 Campaign ) RESOLUTION NO. 81/1101 ) WHEREAS the human-care needs of the citizens of this community are met with skill and compassion by the 209 member-agencies of the United Way of the Bay Area; and WHEREAS the annual campaign for the deserved support of there humane and effective agencies is now in progress, with a realistic goal of $30 million that accurately reflects the operating needs of the agencies; and WHEREAS the diversified services of United Way agencies are demonstrably used by one out of three citizens in the Bay Area, and WHEREAS the efficiency and thrift of the United Way concept is conclusively shown by the fact that more than 90 cents of every dollar contributed goer directly to the agencies for the operation of their humane services; and WHEREAS the beneficiaries of the human--care services include our families, neighbors and co-workers , so that our own best interests are deeply involved in the current United Way campaign; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED BY THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS that all citizens of the Bay Area are urged to partici- pate with unselfish vigor, enthusiasm and generosity in the ongoing United Way campaign, so that the ill, the handicapped and the lonely of our community---of all ages and races--can be helped toward the kinds of lives so dear to all of us .
