Vasco Road-Walnut } Boulevard Rehabilitation and Sulfur- ) RESOLUTION NO. 81/101.9 Extended Asphalt Concrete Overlay } Demonstration Project No. 54. Byron Area ) Project No. 0662-6R420-81 ) Whereas, the use of elemental sulfur added to asphalt concrete enhances the properties of asphalt concrete, leading to longer pavement life; and Whereas, to encourage further studies, and to stimulate, facilitate and expedite the adoption of new and improved technology in the use of sulfur- extended products, the Federal Highway Administration has made federal aid demonstration grants available to suitable agencies to defray anticipated added costs, and, Whereas, $43,500 in funds are available for said purpose to Contra Costa County for use on the Vasco Road-Walnut Boulevard (FAS) rehabilitation project; and, On the recommendation of the Public Works Director, IT IS BY THE BOARD RESOLVED that he be authorized to execute the Cooperative Agreement, identified by Federal Work Order No. DTFH71-81-54-CA-03 for Sulfur-Extended Asphalt Concrete Demonstration Project No. 54.
