HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011969 - 69-791 IN THE B0ARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proposed Waiver on the Separation of AFDC Service and Eligibility } RESOLUTION N'0. 69/791 Functions in Western Contra, } Costa County. WHEREAS the Social Service Department of Contra Costa County has been proceeding as rapidly as possible on the separa- tion of AFDC service and eligibility functions so as to comply with state and federal requirements and be in operation on said basis by July 1, 1970; and WHEREAS this Board of Supervisors has appropriated the required funds so that said separation may be made effective by July 1 ' 1970; and WHEREAS the Social Service Department of Contra Costa County has been planning to set up neighborhood service centers in logia income communities in the western area of the county, said centers to be established so that integrated social program operations involving the County Social Service Department, the County Health Department, the County Medical. Services, and the County Probation Department can be used to cooperatively meet the needsof residents requiring public assistance; and WHEREAS said neighborhood service centers cannot be set up and placed in operation by July 1, 1970 ate]. the Social Service Department of Contra Costa County must provide alternate and less desirable headquarters for its staff and public assistance recipi- ents in the AFDC category so as to meet the July 10 1970 deadline date for separation of service and eligibility functions; and WHEREAS the County Welfare Director has proposed that a twelve-month waiver be requested from the California State Department of Social Welfare and the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare to permit an extension beyond. the July 1, 1970 date on the separation of services and eligibility with respect to some AFDC eases so that the integrated neig�iborhood service center concept may be fully explored and implemented if at all possible; and WHEREAS the Board has carefully considered the waiver proposal of the County Welfare Director; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOAR? OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF CONTRA. COSTA, CALIFOHN'IA, RESOLVED that the waiver proposal of the County Welfare Director i s endorsed and the California State Department of Social Welfare and the United States Department of Health„ Education, and Welfare are requested to give favorable consideration to said proposal.
