HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011969 - 69-546 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONS COSTA COUR'T)% STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of the Passing � of Captain Jamas Robert Raines, ) RESOLUTION NUMBER 69/546 Contra Costa County Fire Pro- tection District. } WHEREAS this Board of Supervisors has been apprised that Captain JanesRobert Haines of the Contra Crista County Fire Pro- tection District met his untimely death on ,August 1 , 1969 in an unfortunate accident while in the performance of his duties; and WHEREAS Captain Haines, a native of the State of California and a graduate of Mt. Diablo High. School, Concord, California, joined the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District in Mai', 1951, was promoted to the rank of Captain in 1956 and in the latter capacitor conscientiously; and,, devotedly discharged his duties in behalf of the people of the District and the County of Contra Costa for thirteen years; and WHEREAS during World War II Captain Haines served as a member of Merri ll's Marauders, a volunteer corps' of tough jungle fighters called on by the :President of the United States to serve in the Burma-India theater of 'war, and was discharged in 1946 with the rams of Sergeant, and WHEREAS during his lifetime Captain Baines contributed more than his fair share of service in behalf of his fellowmen and his c muni ty 3 NOW, THEREFORE„ BE IT BY ,THE BOARD� OF SUPERVISORS OF THE CCLNTy OF 'CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it inscribes in its official minutes by means of this resolution a permanent record of the appreciation of the people and officials of Contra Costs County for the long and faithful service rendered by Captain Haines. BE IT BY THE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that It extends to his surviving family its sincere sympathy, directs that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to his wife Lucy, and 'hopes that she and the other members of his family will be solaced by the knowledge that the earnest' efforts' of Captain James Robert Haines in the behalf of others will be long and well remembered. PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of August, 1969 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors J. P. Kenny, A. M. Dias, T. J. Carl, R. A. Li.nsehei.d, J. E. Moriarty. WOES. None. ABSENT• None.
