IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Opposing Transfer of Operations of the Naval Weapons Station at RESOLUTION NUMBER 69/545 Concordl, California WHEREAS this Board of Supervisors has been apprised that a transfer to other locations of operations now being oorAueted at the Naval Weapons Station,, Coneordg, California is being given attention by the U. S. Navy Department; and WHEREAS a large number of county residents are employed at said Station and are dependent upon Its continued operation for their livelihood; and WHEREAS the U S. Navy Department has substantial capital investment at said Station, has recently acquired the entire commun- ity of Fort Chicago adjacent to the Station as a buffer area, and has spent large sums of money to insure the effectiveness and safety ©f station operations,; NOW MREFORE9 BE IT BY M BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY RESOLVED that It opposes the transfer of opera- tions of the Concord Naval Weapons Station to any other location, urges the U. S. Navy Department to continue said operations at the present site, and requests U., S. Senator George Murphy, U. S. Senator Alan Cranston and Corgressman Jerome R. Waldie to vigorously oppose the aforesaid proposed transfer of operations. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of August$ 1969, by the following vote of the Boardi AYES: Supervisors J. P. Kenny$ A M.
