HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011969 - 69-543 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming ) the month of September as RESOLUTION NO. 69/543 KEEP CALIFORNIA GREEN MONTH. WHEREAS California 's millions of acres of forest and range land constitute an irreplaceable natural resource; and WHEREAS all residents of our great state, and in this county, do participate in this wealth by virtue of the many thous- ands of jobs created through production of forest products for everyday use, by the ever increasing need of recreational areas in the forest areas, by production of foodstuffs and through wise management of our vital watershed areas ; and WHEREAS each year our economy suffers the loss of many millions of dollars through the negligent and wasteful destruction of this resource by man-caused wildfire; and WHEREAS accepted fire prevention methods known to all can materially reduce this needless waste; and WHEREAS late summer and early fall have historically shown the loss to be greatest from wildfire in California; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it does hereby pro- claim the period from September 1, 1969 to September 30, 1969 as KEEP CALIFORNIA GREEN MONTH and urges that all of our citizens acknowledge their responsibilities to prevent Forest and Range Fires and to help KEEP CALIFORNIA GREEN and ever productive. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of August, 1969, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors J. P. Kenny, A. M. Dias, T. J. Coll, E. A. Linscheid, J. E. Moriarty. NOES: None. ABSENT: None.
