In the Matter of )
Property Tax Reform } RESOLUTION NO. 69/464
This Board having heretofore considered over an extended
period the mounting property tax burden necessarily imposed by
local jurisdictions to finance essential services, and taken cogni-
zance of the limited homeowner property tax: relief provided under
tax rebate and assessment exemption leaislati'on; and
The Board deeming it to be essential that more significant
legislative actions be taken so as to substantially reduce the
onerous tax burden upon property taxpayers; and
The Board being aware that differences of opinion existed
at the state level as to the most appropriate type of property tax
reform legislation required;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD of SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that the Legislature
and the Governor are urged to cooperatively develop statutes which
will provide alternate revenue sources for counties and other local
jurisdictions and thereby permit large property tax, cuts during the
fiscal year 3.369-1970 and subsequent fiscal years; and
BE IT BY `I':HE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this
resolution be transmitted to Governor Ronald Reagan, President pro
Tempore of the Senate Howard Klav, Speaker of the Assembly Robert
Monagan, and to the Centra Costa, County representatives in the
California Stage Legislature.
Passed and adopted this 15th day of July 1363 by the
following vote:
