IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of a Regional }
Government as Proposed Under } RESOLUTION NUMBER 69/274
AB 711. }

WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa,
California has heretofore considered various proposals on the
establishment of a Bay Area Regional Government; and
WHEREAS the Board has given attention to the regional government
provisions as detailed in AB 711 which is now receiving the attention
of the California State Legislature; and
WHEREAS the Board believes that its position on regional govern-
ment as set forth in its order of January 21, 1969 remains valid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that it confirms
its position as outlined in said order of January 21, 1969 and
reasserts the following points .-
1.
oints :1. The regional agency as proposed (or as it may be
modified) should not be created without the voted
endorsement of the people; and
2. The vote on the establishment of any regional
entity should be county by county so that any
county voting in opposition to the regional
entity may be excluded from the entity if the
majority of the voters in that county vote in
opposition to the entity; and
3. Detailed information on the regional entity
proposal should be provided to the public before
any date is set to ascertain the wishes of the
people, county by county; and
BE IT BY THE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution
be transmitted to its representatives in the California State
Legislature.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of April, 1969, by the following
vote of the Board:
AYES: Supervisors J. P. Kenny, A. M. Dias, T. J. Coll,
E. A. Linscheid, J. E. Moriarty,
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
