IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Opposing Passage of Senate Bill RESOLUTION No. 69/241 Number 582. WHEREAS the Revenue and Taxation Committee (Supervisors T. J. Coll and A. M. Dias) has informed the Board that Senate Bill Number 582 has been introduced in the California State Legislature for the purpose of negating the effect of Sections 2131 through 2134 of the California Revenue and Taxation Code; and WHEREAS said sections became law as a result of action initiated in 1966 by Assemblyman John T. Knox and staunchly supported by all three of the Contra Costa County representatives in the California State Legislature; and WHEREAS Sections 2131 through 2134 of the California Revenue and Taxation Code make it permissible to adjust the tax rates applied by inter-county districts in the counties which are component parts of such districts in proportion to the assessment ratios established for the component counties by the California State Board of Equalization; and .9 WHEREAS implementation of the aforementioned code sections provides tax equity between counties and saved the taxpayers of Contra Costa County the sum, of $228,000 in the fiscal year 1967-1968 and the sum of $691,000 in the fiscal year 1968-1969; NOW, THEREFORE., as recommended by the Revenue and Taxation Committee, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that it strongly urges the Contra Costa County representatives in the California State Legislature to work against the passage of Senate Bill Number 582 and any comparable bill which may be introduced in the California State Legislature. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of April, 1969, by the following vote of the Board: AYES-. Supervisors J. P. Kenny, A. M. Dias, T. J. Coll, E. A. Linscheid, J. E. Moriarty. NOES: None. ABSENT: None.
