WHEREA.S NATIONAL LIBRARY WM is observed for the twelfth year during the week of April zo-26, 1969 as a citizen sponsored program focusing attention on the nations libraries and their resources; and WHEREAS these resources must encompass bothaccumulated knowledge from the past and accumulating knowledge of the present with all contemporary points of view represented to enable the Indi- vidual to make by his own mind, and to provider the citizen of tomorrow with access to material on all aspects of these fermenting tunes; and WHEREAS the citizens of this county, by their accelerating use of libraries demonstrated by borrowing nearly ,three; million book's from, their public libraries during the past year-, and by thein in- volvement with plans to Improve local library housing and servioes, recognize the significance of the public library as an agency for the free, public, informal education of individuals; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOD that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, reaffirming its support of the rights of all eitizeens for freedom to read, freedom of thought, and freedom of Inquiry, hereby DESIGNATES the week of April 20-26, 1969 as NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK and urges its observance throughout the county.
