Reyes } National Seashore, and Urging } Enactment of H.R. 3786. } } WHEREAS the Federal Government has heretofore approved the acquisition of private: property which, when added to land to be conveyed by the Federal Government and State of California, would assure the completion of a 539000--acre Pt. Reyes National Seashore in Marin County to be included in the National Pare Service, and WHEREAS it has been reported that in visor of the fact that no funds for purchase of the property were included in the 1968-1969 Budget of the Bureau of outdoor Recreation, there is a possibility that the size and quality of the National Seashore would be gravely diminished by the subdivision and sale to the general public of that 2,500-acre tract of land known as Lake Ranch, one of the most beautiful parcels in the entire area; and WHEREAS the development of the Pt. Reyes National Seashore is essential not only to the people of the State in general, but to the residents of the Bay Area in particular as it would provide much needed recreational facilities, and in addition thereto should stop the desecration of the remaining open-space areas within the State; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD of SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY of CONTRA COSTA RESOLVED that it HEREBY SUPPORTS AND ENDORSES the heretofore declared policy of the Marin County Board of Super-- visors, looking to the expeditious acquisition of property and the concomitant completion of the 53,000--acre Pt. Reyes National Seashore; and BE IT BY THE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that it HEREBY URGES the enactment of H.R. 3786, introduced in the Congress of the United States by Representative Don Clausen and Representative William Ma.illlard, which will increase the authorization for said Pt Reyes National Seashore project; and BE IT BY THE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Senator George Murphy and Senator Alan Cranston and Congressman Jerome R. Waldie with the request that they take all action consonant with the intent of this resolution..
