HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011969 - 69-198 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proposing Legislation to Provide Tax Relief for Property Owners RESOLUTION NUMBER 69/198 Incurring Flood Damage. WHEREAS Supervisor J. E. Moriarty informed the Board that a number of Contra Costa County residents had incurred flood damage to their property subsequent to the lien date of March 1, 1969; and WHEREAS Supervisor Moriarty pointed out that it seemed unfair to levy taxes for the fiscal year 1969-1970 using a valuation set as of March 1, 1969 when flood damage had been incurred immediately thereafter; and WHEREAS Supervisor Moriarty recommended that the Centra Costa County legislators be urged to introduce legisla- tion such than property owners might obtain tax relief under the aforesaid circumstances; and WHEREAS the Board members were in general agreement with respect to the position taken by Supervisor Moriarty; NOW, THEREFORE.. BE IT BY THE BOARD RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County representatives in the California State Legislature are urged to introduce and work vigorously for the passage of legislation which would provide for tax relief to property owners incurring flood damage immediately after the liendate, March 1, 1969.
