Kuchel, United States } Senator. } ) WHEREAS the Honorable Thomas H. Kuchel will leave the United Stags Senate at the conclusion of his present term of office; and WHEREAS Senator Kuchel, a native son and descendant of a pioneer California family, served with distinction in appointive and elective state offices prior to his appointment as United States Senator by former Governor Earl Warren in 1952; and WHEREAS Senator Kuchel was elected to the United States Senate by the people of California for three consecutive terms; and WHEREAS the achievements of Senator Kuchel in the United States Senate over a period of 16 years have been noteworthy and widely recognized and include significant responsibility for the passage of progressive legislation in the areas of social pro- grams, civil rights, conservation of natural resources, and nuclear test bans; and WHEREAS Senator Kuchel has been responsive to and effective In connection with requests made by the Boards of Supervisors of the County of Contra: Costa., California during his entire tenure in public office; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA. COSTA, CALIFORNIA. RESOLVED that it extends to the Honorable Thomas H. Kuchel its sincere appreciation for his efforts In behalf of the people of Contra Costa County and of the State of California, its compliments on his outstanding work as a public servant, and its best wishes for success in the endeavors which he undertakes after leaving the Senate of the United ,States of America.
