RESOLUTION ORDERING AI�tNEXATION OF
THE CITY € F LAFAYETTE TO TRE CONTRA
COSTA COUNTY FIR& PROTECTIODISTRICT
The Bard of Supervisors» of Contra Costa County RESOMS THAT:
On November 12,, 1 68, this Board adopted 'Re4olution Na. 6:8/784
Initiating proceedings for the an of the Cita of Lafayette
to `,,the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District , This
annexation Had been ;proposed by the City. Counci.l of the City of
Lafayette. Reseluti:on of application fq,r the proposed, change of
organi za'tidn was filed by the City, of Lafayette with the Executive
Officer of the Local Agency Formation Commission on October, 14,$, 1968.
The reeson for the proposed annexation 15 that the type and size
of operation as eonducted by the Contra .Costa County Fire Protection
District is of greater benefit to the residents and taxpayers 0:
the City of Lafayette than the present mu.1tiP re dilstr1ot operation
noir conducted within the city boundaries. This multi.distrct
operation is not administratively or politically dess.rable .
On November 61 '1968 the Local Agency Formation Gomm 81
approved the resolution 'subject to the following conditions:

(b>) Upon completion of the :annexation, a.l1 full. time

classifications in the Contra Costa County Fire
Protection District. Such transfers shall ase
effected in Accordance with the provisions cif the
County Ordinance Code and Civil Service Rules and
Regulations.
(c) Upon completion of the annexation, the Contra
Costa CouInty Fire Protection District shall
succeed to all of the assets and liabi,llties of
the Lafayette Fire Pr°o eet + n I3istrict , the liablli-
ties to 3nclUde the out etandin In:d..bttedness of the

(d) Upon completion of the annexation, any monies due
to, but not yet received by the Lafayette Fire
Protection ''District , shall be collected by and
credited to the Contra Costa, County Fire Protection
District .
(e) Upon completion of the annexation the Lafayette
Fire Protection' District shall not impose any
further* taxes upon the area l of that district.

by (1) publication In the "Lafayette Sun" , ��� pasti.n tin the Board=s
Bulletin Board, and '(3) mailing notice t�; all; persons and �oun�ies
cities or districts, which had filed a written request far spebial
notice with the Clerk of the Board. This Board, at the ti-e and
place set for said hearing, heard the determination of the LoC'.a 1.
Agency Formation Commission read aloud, and then called forerlldznee
or (protests,' as provided for by Gov Dade Section, 5�314. 'he
Board then and there heard and duly considered evidence and protests
offered concerning the annexation.
This Beard heresy finds that the proposed annexation of the
City of Lafayette to the Centra Costal County Fire Protection District
is in the best Interest of the people of the City of Lafayette.
This .Beard finds that the territory to be annexed is inhabited' but
that written protests filed and-not withdrawn represent less than
25 jpercent o.� the number of landowners within: the territory owning
not mare than 25 percent of the assessed value of land therein;, and
less than 25 percent of the voting power of voters entitled to vote
as a result of residing In or owning :proper►ty within said territory.
This Beard hereby orders the City of <Lafayette as desdr}ibeld, in
Exhibit "A" annexed to the Contr'e Costa Count Fire Protection
District with election and without I�eiri�; sub ect to confirmation
by the voters upon the question of annexation.
The Clerk of this board is hereby directed to file his certi.fi-»
cafe of completion with the Secretary of State in accordance with
Government 'Code' Section '564451.
