In the Matter of Expressing RESOLUTION NO. 68/862
Regret on the Passing of
R:oScoe D. Janes, Jr. }
WF-B=TEAS death came to Roscoe D. Janes, Jr., prominent
Danville, California attorney and. community leader, on November 28 ,
1968; and
WHEREAS Mr. Janes, a graduate of Stanford University, was
well known to all Contra Costa County officials over a period of
many years through his active and continuing interest in local
government affairs particularly in planning and ineorporati'on
ratters; and
WHEREAS Mr. Jones, a paraplegic for most of his adult life
as a result of an accident during his service as an officer in the
United. States Navy, overcame this handicap to become an outstanding
lawyer and a staunch and rigorous advocate of programs aimed. at
community betterment; and.
WHEREAS Mr. Janes was widely recognized for his leadership
dualities and was accord.ingl.y often selected to serve his fellowmen
as an officer in community and professional organizations;
NOW $ THEREFORE, HE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERV"ISOT-IS OF THE
COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA &SOLVED that it expresses deep
regret on the passing of Mr. Roscoe D. Jones, Jr. , extends to his
surviving family its sincere sympathy, adjourns this official Board.
meeting In his memory , directs that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted. to his wife Margaret$ and hopes that she and, the other
members of his family will be solaced by the knowledge that his
earnest efforts In the behalf of others are well known and will
long be remembered.
