IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Complimenting Joseph S. Silva on Attaining RESOLUTION NUMBER 68/858 His 70th Birthday. WHEREAS Joseph S. Silva will reach his 70th birthday on December 31 , 1968; and WHEREAS Mr. Silva has held in Contra Costa County the posts of Judge of the Brentwood Judicial District, Mayor of the City of Brentwood, school district trustee, County Supervisor and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, and President of the Twenty-Third Agricultural District; and WHEREAS Mr. Silva was appointed to the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Say Area Rapid Transit District by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors for a four-year term, beginning in November 1965, in which Director capacity he is still representing Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS the achievements of Mr. Silva in the public service are reflected by the existence today of county facilities such as the Byron Boys Ranch, the Marsh Creek Dam, and the County Administration Building in Martinez which were constructed during his tenure as County Supervisor from 1957 through 1964 and as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in 1961 ; and WHEREAS during his more than three decades of public service Mr. Silva has found time to participate actively in community affairs particularly in the role of a master cook preparing dinners and barbecues for groups In small number or in the hundreds gathered for special occasions and events; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it extends to Mr. Joseph S. Silva its hearty co'ngratulations upon the occasion of his 70th birthday, its sincere thanks for his long and outstanding service to the people of Contra Costa County, and Its best wishes for his continued health and happiness for many years to come. PASSED AND ADOPTED thl$ 3rd day of December, 1968, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, James E. Moriarty, Thomas John Coll , Edmund A. Linscheid, Alfred M. Dias.
