HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011968 - 68-738 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Endorsing ) Proposition 1»a on the } November 5, 1968 General } RESOLUTION No. 68/738 Election Ballot . ) } WHEREAS this Board of Supervisors has carefully reviewed and considered the provisions of Proposition 1-a which will appear on the November 5, 1968 General Election Ballot; and WHEREAS Proposition 1-a, if enacted, would result in a rational move toward meaningful property tax relief for the citizens of Contra Costa County and of the State of California as a whole; and WHEREAS Proposition 1-a would provide immediate tax relief to homeowners and renters and businessmen; and WHEREAS no increase in :state or local taxes would be required by Proposition 1-a inasmuch as the tax relief would be financed from the present State Sales Tax; and WHEREAS Proposition 1-a would strengthen local government control through diminishing the current dependence on property tax revenues without the curtailment of vital services and projects and without the imposition of centralized controls from the state level; and WHEREAS Proposition 1-a directly negates the poorly conceived:, inequitable and harmful Proposition 9 which this Hoard strenuously opposes ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA RESOLVED that it endorses and supports Proposition 1-a as a significant and desirable step in the provi- sion of tax relief to the people of this county and of the State of California.
