WHEREAS several years ago the City of San Pablo, California,
one of the cities in the County of Contra Costa, California, sought to
affiliate with a municipality of comparable size and similarity in
background and heritage; and
WHEREAS through the efforts of a special committee and stu-
dents of Saleslan High School the City of Manzanillo, Mexico in 1965
was picked as a sister city and agreed to accept such affiliation; and
WHEREAS the sister city arrangement has proved to be a desir-
able relationship under which the officials and citizens of each
municipality have become acquainted with the characteristics of the
other and through which there has developed a keen sense of interna-
tional understanding and friendship; and
WHEREAS a group of City of San Pablo officials and residents
will soon go to their sister city for the purpose of visiting with
Manzanillo officials and residents and viewing directly the fine
features of that important Mexican community;
NOW, THEREFORE, on the motion of Supervisor A. M. Dias,
seconded by Supervisor T. J . 'Coll , BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED THAT it
extends to all the officials and all the people of the City of Manzanillo,
Mexico the warm official greetings and sincere best wishes of the
Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this iOth day of September, 1968, by the
following vote of the Board:
AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, James E. Moriarty,
Thomas John Coll , Edmund A. Linscheid, Alfred M. Dias.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
