In the Matter of Opposing }
passage of Senate Bill } Ris3OLUTION NUMMR 68/323

WHEREAS the Revenue and Taxation Committee (Supervisors
E. A. Linschaid and J. P. Kenny) has informed the Board that
Senate Bill Dumber 1171 has been introduced in the California
State Legislature for the purpose of negating the effect of
Sections 2131 through 2134 of the California Revenue and Taxation.
Code; and
WERPSAS said sections became lair as a result of action
initiated in 1966 by Assemblyman John T .. Knox and staunchly
supported by all three of they Contra Costa County representatives
in the California State Legislature; and
WHERRAS Sections 2131 through 2134 of the California
Revenue and Taxation Code make it permissible to adjust the tax
rates applied by inter-county districts in the counties which are
component parts of such districts in proportion to the assessment
ratios established for the component counties by the California
State Board of Equalization; and
WHEREAS implementation of the aforementioned code sections
provides tax equity between counties and in the fiscal year
1967-1968 saved the taxpayers of Centra Costa County the sum: of
$228,000;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD RESOLD that it
strongly urges Contra Costa County representatives in the California
State Legislature to work against the passage of Senate Bill
Number 1171, as recox►mtende:d by the Revenue and Taxation Committee.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of May, 1968 by the
following vote of the Board:
AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, James E. Moriarty,
Thomas John Coll, Edmund A. Linschaid,
Alfred M. Dias.
