Appreciation to Congressman RESOLUTION NUMBER 68/305
Jerome R. Waldie.
WHEREAS this Board of Supervisors authorized several county
officials to proceed to Washington, D. Co during the week beginning
April 28, 1968 for the purpose of presenting testimony on the pro-
posed U. S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco to Stockton channel
dredging project to the douse of Representatives and United States
Senate Subcommittees on Civil Works Appropriations; and
WHEREAS said channel dredging project is of vital importance
to the water transportation needs of Contra Costa County and of the
State of California.; and
WHEREAS it was necessary that the position of Contra Costa
county be clearly and forcefully presented to aforesaid Subcomasittees
in carder that said channel deepening project might be considered in
the light of its great relative significance and also with a sense of
urgency in teras of funding and commencement of construction; and
WHEREAS Congressman Jerome R. Waldie graciously provided
assistance by his staff and use of his office facilities for the
benefit of the Contra Costa County officials while they performed
their work in Washington, O. C. ; and
WHEREAS Congressman "Waldie personally made extremely
impressive presentations on said channel deepening project before
aforesaid Subcommittees and thereby significantly enhanced the posi-
tion of Contra Costa County in relation to the project proposal;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD OF SUPERVISORS RESOLVED
that it extends its sincere appreciation to Congressman Jerome R.
Waldie for his efforts in behalf of the people and officials of
Contra Costa County and compliments him on continuing as a Congress-
man with the same dedicated and effective performance which he pro-
vided to his county constituents as a California Assemblyman.
PASSEL AND ADOPTED this 7th day of May 1968 by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors J. P. Kenny, J. E. Moriarty,
T. J. Coll, E. A. Linscheid, A. M. Dias.
NOES: None.
