HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011968 - 1968-293 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming } the Week of May 12, 1968 } through May 18, 1968 as RESOLUTION NUMBER 68/293 "Sire a Veteran Week. " } WHEREAS young veterans are returning in greatly increasing numbers to this community from the battlefields of Vietnam, and are looking for meaningful jobs in the civilian work force; and WHEREAS many older veterans of World War T and II and the .Korean conflict, who also sacrificed years of their lives In their country's service, are without gobs through no fault of their own, or are not working to their full capacities; and AREAS these veterans, young and mature, possess serious work attitudes, skills and experience which would make them pro- ductive assets to the business and industry of this community; and they stand ready to serve employers profitably as they stood ready to serve their nation. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, hereby ,loin with our local veterans organi- zations in proclaiming the week of May 12 through May 18, 1968 "Hire a Veteran Week" and urge employers to place job orders for workers through the California State Employment Service so that these veterans may receive priority of referral to gobs as provided by law. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 'nth day of May, 1968, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, James E. Moriarty, Thomas John Coll, Edmund A. Linscheid, Alfred M. Dias. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. RESOLUTION NUMBER 68/293
