Women 'Voters Week." 3
WHEREAS the League of Women Voters believes in repre-
sentative government that is responsive to the will of the people;
maintains an equitable and flexible system of taxation; promotes
conservation and development of natural resources in the public
interest; shares in the solation of economic and social problems
which affect the general welfare of the people; cooperates with
other nations in the search for solutions to world problems and
the development of international organizations and law imperative
for the promotion of world peace; and
WHEREAS the League of Women Voters believes in the indi-
vidual liberties as established in the Constitution and that every
citizen should be protected in his right to vote; that every
person should have access to free public education which provides
equal opportunity far a11; that no person or group should suffer
legal, economic or administrative discrimination; and
WHEREAS the League of Women Voters,, as a non-profit,, non-
partisan and completely volunteer organization, and believing
that democratic government depends upon the informed and active
particsipation of its citizens, has devoted in the past fifteen
years at least one-half million hours toward furthering its
stated beliefs;
NOW, THXREF0RE, BE IT R'RSOL D that in honor of these
dedicated, civic-minded women, this Board of Supervisors proclaims
the week of May 5 through May ll, 1968 as "LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS
WEEX" and urges all citizens of Contra Costa County to support
the notable activities of the League.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 30th day of April, 1968 by the
following vote of the Board:
