HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011968 - 1968-219 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming } Sunday, April 28, 1965, Teen } March Day for St. Jude ) RESOLUTION NO. 68/219 Childrens' Research Hospital. } WHEREAS each year teenagers throughout the United States march together to raise funds for medical research so that many now fatal diseases afflicting children may be eliminated: and WHEREAS Sunday, April 28, 1968, from one to four p.m. has been designated as the dap of the Teen March for St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital, and WHEREAS all children eighteen years of age and under, regardless of race or religion, are eligible for treatment upon referral by local physicians at St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital without cost or limitation of out patient cares and WHEREAS Danny Thomas and thousands of teenagers have raised more than seven million dollars over the past years for this world famous hospital; and ?WHEREAS these proceeds have enabled doctors and scientists to treat and help hundreds of young people with catastrophic illnesses; and WHEREAS it now appears that a breakthrough in leukemia and a certain type of childhood cancer may be reached within a year or two, thin sparing many young lives; and WHEREAS funds must be provided for continuing and expanding research: NOW, THEREFORE, the Beard of Supervisors of Contra Costa. County, does hereby proclaim Sunday, April 28, 1968, Teen March Day for St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital and urges all citizens to contribute when our teenagers ring doorbells in Contra Costa County, fervently hoping that we may see the day when dread diseases no longer menace our children. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of April, 1968 by the following vote of the Boards AYES: Supervisors J. P. Benny, J. E. Moriarty, T. J. Coll, E. A. Linscheid, A. M. Dias. NOES: None. ABSENT: None.
