RESOLUTION NUMBER 68/202 CALLING AND NOTICING ELECTION Govt. Code See.J-1320.13 The Burd of Supervisors of Contra. Costa County RESOLVES THATt 1. Marvin E. King began his present 3-year term of office as Member No. 2 of the Board of Retirement of the Contra Costa County Employees Retirement Association on July 1, 1965, pursuant to the provisions of the County Employees Retirement Act of 1937 (Government Code :Secs. 31450 ff) and this Board's Resolution of June 22, 1956, and the members of the Retirement Association must therefore elect someone to fill this offices for the term commencing July 1, 1968, as provided below. 2. Nominations shall be on forms provided by the County Clerk and filed in his office not later than 5 P. M. on Monday, May 6, 1968. He shall have ballots printed with the nominees' names and with blank space's for write-in candidates. He shall have a ballot mailed on or about May 30, 1968 to each member of the Retirement Association (other than safety members) as of April 30„ 1968, with a ballot envelope in which to enclose the ballot when voted, imprinted "Retirement Board Ballot" or similar words, together with a return envelope addressed to the Clerk for mailing the ballot envelope back to him, and with instructions that the ballot shall be marked and returned to the County Clerk before 5 P. M. on election day (see No. 3 below). 3. Election is hereby fixed as Tuesday, June 18, 1968. Any ballet reaching the Clerk's office after 5 P. M. on June 18, 1968 shall be void and not counted. 4. Notice of this election and nomination procedure shall be given by the Clerk-by publishing a copy of this resolution at least once in the Contra. Costa Morning News-Gazette at least 10 days before last day for his receiving nominations (see No. 2, above). 5. On Wednesday, June 19, 1968 the County Clerk shall cause all valid ballots to be publicly opened, counted and tallied by an Election Board of 4 members of the Retirement Association selected by him, which shall forthwith certify the returns to this Board; and. this Board shall de- clare the winner elected or arrange for a run-off election in case of a tie. 6. If the Clerk receives no valid nominations, he shall so inform this Board which shall call a new election and if the Clerk receives only one valid nomination, he shall so notify this Board which shall declare that person elected.
