HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011968 - 1968-070 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA C OITNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming } the Period from March 1 through } April 14, 1968 as the "Easter ) RESOLUTION No. 68/70 Seal. Appeal." ) WHEREAS a rapidly growing population and a rising accident toll are resulting in greater numbers of crippled children and handi- capped adults who need an expanded program of rehabilitation services ; and WHEREAS Easter Seal. Societies throughout the nation have been providing these services for 47 years to a constantly expanding number of crippled children and adults, until today more than a quarter- million are receiving care, treatment, training and guidance under Easter Seal leadership; and WHEREAS in our own state, county and local communities, the Easter Seal Society fights crippling in direct services to the handi- capped and in creating increased public awareness of the needs, aspirations and abilities of the physically handicapped; and WHEREAS these valuable services make it possible for an increasing number of crippled children to lead fuller and richer lives, and handicapped adults are being restored to productive and useful roles in the community; NOrvd, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board PROCLAIMS the period be inning, March 1 and continuing through Easter Sunday, April 14, as the 1998 "Easter Seal Appeal" and urges the generous help of all citizens in this vital humanitarian cause. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 30th day of January, 1968 by the followingvote of the .Board: AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, James E. Moriarty, Thomas John Coll, Edmund A. Linscheid, Alfred M. Dias.
