HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011968 - 1968-033 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Endorsing the } Position of the County Supervisors } Association of California with } RESOLUTION NO. 68/+33 Respect to Property Tax Relief for Counties . } WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors, County of Contra. Costa, California received a December 22, 1967 letter from ,Supervisor Daniel G. Grant, Santa Barbara. County, in his capacity as Chairman, Revenue and Taxation Committee, County Supervisors Association of California, requea:ting that the position of said association on property tax relief in the amount of $155,OOOoOOO for counties be supported by this Board and, further, that the Governor of the State of California and the Contra Costa County representatives in the California State Legislature be contacted and urged to also support the position of said association, and ?NTHEREAS on January 9, 1968 the Board referred this matter to its Revenue and Taxation Committee (Supervisors E. A. Linscheid and J. P. Kenny) for necessary action and report to the Board; and WHEREAS the Revenue and Taxation Committee of this Board has reported that the only method of providing uniform property tax relief to the taxpayers is through allocations to county governments and that the position of the County Supervisors Association of California in this regard should be vigorously supported; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS .BOARD RESOLVED that the position of the County Supervisor's Association of California on county property tax relief in the amount of $155,000,000 is strongly endorsed and the Contra: Costa County representatives in the California State Legislature are urged to support said position in the interests of uniform relief to property taxpayers; BE IT BY THIS BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors is directed to contact said representatives and apprise them of the recommendation of this Board and request from then information as to their positions on said matter.
