In the Matter of Reaffirming ) RESOLUTION No. 68/6
Position of the Board with )
Respect to Pier Loading )
Facilities at Concord Naval )
Weapons Station. )
WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Contra Costa, California on July 27, 1967 adopted its Resolu-
tion Number 67/526 on safety problems associated with the
receipt, storage, and shipment of materials by the Concord
Naval Weapons Station= and
WHEREAS said resolution states in parts
"NOW, 'THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD
RESOLVED that the United States Navy
Department is urged before proceeding
with any other action to take the steps
necessary to bring its pier loading
facilities into compliance with its own
safety regulations and give detailed
attention to proposals made in this
regard by the Honorable Jerome R.
Waldie, Congressman, 14th District" ; and
WHEREAS this Board by its order on September 26, 1967
confirmed the position taken in its Resolution Number 67/526;
and
WHEREAS it is still the position of this Board that
the United States Navy Department should take the steps necessary
to bring its pier loading facilities into compliance with its own
safety regulations before proceeding with any other action and
give detailed attention to proposals made in this regard by the
Honorable Jerome R. Waldie, Congressman, 14th District, and
WHEREAS it is the opinion of this Board that the
United States Navy Department should study the total situation in
depth to determine if a pattern of land use around, the present
naval weapons station holdings can be developed which will not be
detrimental to Navy objectives and which will concomitantly permit
latitude for county growth within practicable risk limitations
taking into account hazards such as loaded ship movements through
a narrow channel and a bridge lift span,

NOW, THEREFORE9 BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that its
prior position as set forth in its Resolution Number 67/526 of
July 27, 1967 and its order of September 26, 1967 are hereby
confirmed and the United States Navy Department is again urged
to give specific and detailed attention to the proposals of
the Honorable Jerome Re Waldies Congressman, 14th District3
and
BE IT BY THE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of
this resolution are to be forwarded to United States Senators
Thomas He Kuchel, George Murphy, henry Me Jackson, Congressman
Mendel Rivers, and Congressman Jerome Re Walde,
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of January, 1968 by
the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, Alfred Me Dias,
James Be Moriarty, Thomas John Coll,
Edmund A. Linscheid.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
