HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011968 - 1968-004 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proposed } State Route 93, Orinda - ) RESOLUTION NO. 68/4 Moraga Area } WHEREAS on November 29, 1967 a public hearing was held by the State Division of Highways in the Orinda Theater, Orinda, California, for the purpose of presenting the results of route location studies for Route 93 between Route 77 near Moraga Del Rey and Route 24 near Orinda; and WHEREAS at said hearing there was an overwhelming endorse- ment of the proposed location from such local organizations as the Orinda Chamber of Commerce, Orinda Association, Orinda Fire District, Moraga Community Association, Orinda Union School District; and from interested property owners including Kaiser Industries, owner of the largest parcel of land through which the proposed freeway would extend; and WHEREAS representatives of homeowners in the Lout Talley and Moraga Del Rey areas expressed concern over problems of noise, grading and access which might be created by the proposed route; and WHEREAS the Public Works Director recommends that consider- ation of said problems can and should be included in the design of the freeway to minimize the effect on said residential areas; and WHEREAS said proposed freeway route location matches very closely with a plan prepared by the County Public Works Department before said route was added to the :State Freeway System in 1958; and WHEREAS the County Public Works and Planning Departments concur with the route location proposed by the State; and WHEREAS the Public Works Director also concurs with the Orinda Chamber of Commerce and the Moraga Community Association in that further public hearings on this matter would serve no useful Purpose and would delay adoption of the proposed route; and WHEREAS the Public Works Director recommends that the Board request the State Highway Commission to waive further public hearings and adopt the location for State Route 93 between State Route 24 and State Route 77 as presented by the State Division of Highways at the November 29, 1967 public hearing in Orinda; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS BY THE BOARD RESOLVED that the recom- mendation of the Public Works Director is APPROVED and the State Highway Commission is requested to waive further public hearings and adapt the proposed location for State Route 93, PASSED AND ADOPTED on January 2, 1968 by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors James P. Kenny, Alfred M. Dias, James E. Moriarty, Thomas Jahn Coll, Edmund A. Linscheid. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. RESOLUTION NO. 68/4
